I'm happy to see this pub getting back to its old self again. Changes have made the place happier to be in.I like the fact that the owners want to accomodate what we want as people who live in the mill...Maybe a suggestions box? Well done with the food too...huge improvement.....! Support your local pub and visit the lion.!

MY FAMILY AND I HAD GREAT PLEASURE IN TASTING THE BEAUTIFUL FOOD AT THE LION LAST SUNDAY. THE MEAL WAS HOT, WELL PRESENTED AND PLENTIFULL. THE STAFF WERE ALL PLEASANT, ESPECIALLY NEIL, AND IT HAS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE.
WE ARE BOOKING FOR OUR XMAS DAY LUNCH THERE WITH ALL OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND IT IS REASONABLY PRICED AT 29.95
(DEPOSIT 10.00) FOR 5 COURSE.
THE RESTAURANT OVER LOOKS THE DERWENT WALK AND BEER GARDEN.
SEAN THE CHEF IS MOST OBLIGING IF YOU WISH TO ORDER SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ON THE MENU HE WILL TRY AND ACCOMODATE YOU.
GOOD LUCK TO LINDA AND BOB, AND ALL THE STAFF FOR XMAS AND THE NEW YEAR.

well we have now been in the pub 12 weeks and I would just like to say they have been 12 fantastic weeks.
we have taken over a fantastic staff who we love working with.
We have a great group of customers coming to the pub and lots of new frendly faces come in every day. it takes time to getthe pub the way you the customers would like it but bear with us we will happen over the next couple of years. I think we have already shown this to the customers who already come on a regular baisis. If you used to come to our pub please come back and meet us and let us show you what a great pub you could have. We have a fantastic haloween night coming up on 30th october, fancy dress pub is decorated. a few games, and the hot shot cowboys and playing, come along and have a great night out with us,

well we have looked at this pub with a few to taking it on. It needs a lot of t.l.c . we found that it was not up to the standards that we like in our pubs. beer garden a tip. it should be inviting a place to enjoy the out door while having a beer or a meal. inside the place was ok but many places had not been cleaned to our standards. We hope to give good food at a good price. its a pub for the locals and thats what we would like to bring to the area. hoping to take over soon. let you know and come and meet us and let us know what you would like in your pub. we will listen and see what we can do. we will def be keeping quiz night . i love a good night.

This pub is under new management again, which can only be an improvement given the attitude of the lot who left in December. The satff all seem happier resulting in a good atmosphere and good service. the food is good, and the night I was there they had a live singer who was really good. Definitely worth going back to now.

My partner and I were really looking forward to some local pub food, living close by and thought we would treat ourselves and go for a nice pub meal and a drink. The food was not very nice at all the veg was cold and a key ingredient of the meal was missing ! the manager did give us a refund for part of the meal and we left disapointed, wishing we had got a takeaway or visited another pub in the area.

Good staff - bad management.
Their sign outside says "New Management - New Attitude", well they are right because the attitude of the current management is disgusting compared to the managers before them. The current management do not manage they dictate. They are discourteous to customers and have even been known to swear at them. I wonder how many people walk out without paying for their meals? OWNERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!!
The current management have alienated loyal customers and the pub is rapidly going downhill. The beleagured staff try their best but with managers like this no wonder there is a quick staff turnover.

This is our local, while my first visit left much to be desired I have been back and have to say that the food was very good, service was pleasing and staff are willing even if unsure.
Management are really nice people friendly well mannered and more than happy to have something cooked as a special even when not on the Menu.
The new owners are finding their feet and in the times I have been in I have never seen staff or Management stomp off in a mood.
Good luck to staff and Management lets try giving our support rather than writing bad reviews.

Extreme display of Bad Attitude and Poor Customer Service, The Manager and Manageress have no regard for customers and seem to have even less regard for the staff, food poor. Shame the sign says "New Owners - New Attitude", Should Read "New Owners With Bad Attitude". Do not go to this Pub

Absolutely disgraceful..... the attitude of the staff is appalling. The manageress being the worst. You think taking over a new pub they would try and please customers. This is not what we got, just overcooked food and an atmosphere you could cut with a knife. Food was thrown on the table and when we spoke to the manageress about a missing order, she stormed off in a huff after giving us a series of dirty looks and bad attitude. They have a sign outside saying "NEW OWNERS, NEW ATTITUDE" Yeah right, pity its not the right attitude. Sorry I wont be setting a foot in there again!!

THIS USED TO BE A CANNY LITTLE PUB....BUT NOW HAS SLUMPED DREADFULLY . POSSIBLY DUE TO LATEST MANAGEMENT OF ESTABLISHMENT WHICH HAS DEMONSTRATED TO ME THAT THERE IS NO TOLERANCE OF DISABILITY OR OLD AGE.
POOR ATTITUDE.
THE FOOD USED TO BE SOMETHING YOU COULDNT WAIT TO TASTE ...NOW ITS OF THE GREASY VARIETY, POOR VALUE FOR MONEY, LESS CHOICE . THERE SEEMS TO BE A CHANGE OF CHEF EVERY 3-4WEEKS AND BAR STAFF COME AND GO VERY VERY FREQUENTLY. NOBODY SEEMS TO HANG AROUND FOR LONG IN THIS PUB.
SO FRIENDLY ADVICE IS : DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ..DONT GO TO THE LION.

Well, that's a pub i will not be going back to....why?...bad manners, very poor attitude to disabled and elderly customers, bar staff dont even like it and move on quickly, the food is poor...very greasy, not well cooked, and not worth spending your money on, the chef changes every 3-4 weeks, the atmosphere is just not there. so why bother?
